Another image inspired by a beautiful photo by Nelleke Pieters, Hour Of Wolves:
The photo really struck me as the light coming through is totally amazing. It has beautiful clear sunbeams but also the glow around the origin is very strong. This was my main focus when using this photo as reference. Placing the trees in approximately the same positions also helped to recreate this wonderful scene.
Before starting I set a time limit on myself of 90 minutes setup time in Vue, and stuck to it. Then followed a 3 hour render time, and then a few hours fiddling in Photoshop drawing twigs onto the trunks, fixing low detail branch-ends, painted the sunbeams and added a diffuse glow filter to the lighting origin, and adding some noise reduction. To finish I had to add the light behind the distant trunks along the horizon with the alpha map Vue rendered as that detail had gotten lost in the foggy atmosphere.
Rendered in Vue10 at 5000 pixels wide, but it looks best at 3000. Thanks for looking!
